The Carlmont girls volleyball team beat Aragon 23-25, 25-17, 24-26, 25-15, 15-10 in a big PAL-Bay match in Belmont Tuesday. It is the third time this year that Carlmont has rallied to win after trailing two sets to one. The Scots improve to 18-2, 6-1 while the Dons fall to 10-9, 5-2. The Scots JV team (12-8, 5-2) came up just short, 26-24, 24-26, 15-11, and Carlmontâs Freshman team (11-3, 4-2) also fell to Aragon, 25-14, 25-18.
Carlmont senior Maya McClellan was dominant over the last four sets, notching a season-best 28 kills, 16 digs, three aces and two blocks. Senior Sophie Srivastava had 52 assists, 11 digs, three blocks and five kills, hitting .455; while classmate Tai Mei Chang had a career-high 28 digs and two aces. Sophomore Alisha Mitha added 11 kills, six digs, three blocks and an ace; and sophomore Morgan McClellan added eight kills, 14 digs, three blocks and an ace. Junior Elizabeth Prozell had eight digs off the bench, senior Heather Chao hit .348 with four kills and two digs, and junior Katie Wong had seven digs and a kill.
Carlmont returns to action Thursday, hosting Menlo Atherton to start the second round of PAL-Bay competition. The Freshman match is scheduled for 4:00, with JV and varsity to follow (varsity starts around 6:30).
