Carlmont High School would like to welcome Jasyn Chidester as its new athletic trainer. Jasyn was born in Redwood City and grew up in Belmont and San Mateo. His childhood home was less than 4 miles from Carlmont. He graduated from Hillsdale High School in San Mateo in 2007 where he was a 3 sport athlete playing football, basketball, and baseball. He then attended College of San Mateo where he played football for 1 year. He sustained an injury that cut his football career short, but he transitioned into the fire academy at CSM where he got his EMT certification. He soon realized that his passion was more geared toward sports medicine as opposed to the emergency medical field. He then attended San Jose State University and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training. He is currently working towards his Master’s in Sports Rehabilitation through The University of Melbourne, Australia. He was formerly the Director of Sports Medicine at TEAM Clinic in Santa Clara. He worked as the Head Athletic Trainer for club Sports at Santa Clara University, and the Head Athletic Trainer for the San Francisco Rush professional rugby team. He now works for Stanford Children’s Health in the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Department and for the last year has expanded his knowledge in pediatric sports medicine. He is passionate about sports medicine and emphasizes establishing positive relationships with student athletes, coaches, and parents. He has the goal of providing the best care possible with his athletes to ensure that they can stay healthy and continue participate in the sports that they love.
