Dalton Meekins scored 11 points and Nick Knobel and Joe Seaman had 10 each as the JV Boys topped Sequoia on Friday. Carlmont used strong rebounding and solid 3-point shooting to withstand 5 4th Quarter 3-pointers by Sequoia. After falling behind 7-0 early, the Scots went on a 21-6 first half run fueled by outside shooting from Meekins (3 of 7 from three) and Abram Guldbech (2 of 2 from three and 7 points total), holding Sequoia to 2 points in the 2nd Quarter. Sequoia’s early 2nd Half comeback ended when Knobel hit a deep 3-pointer just before the 3rd quarter buzzer and Nate Rutter hit a big shot as part of a 7-0 Carlmont run, and the Scots closed it out with free throws down the stretch (outscoring Sequoia 11-1 from the line despite missing 10 free throws overall). Seaman finished with 10 rebounds, Siupeli Netane 7, and Knobel 6. Carlmont’s record stands at 16-7 (6-5 in conference). The final game of the JV season is on Tuesday, February 14, at Carlmont.
