Carlmont Highlights: In this first league game of 2018, the first 3 innings saw the Carlmont bats come alive with 8 hits resulting in 10 runs. Leading the way was 1st baseman Aaron Hoch with 2 doubles and 2 RBI and Jordan Brandenburg with a 2-bagger and an RBI single. Ryan Busser drove in the Scots’ first run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the 1st inning, and he collected a second RBI when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the 2nd inning. Shortstop Mitchell Plane also was responsible for 2 RBI with 2 singles. Starting pitcher Brandenburg cruised through the first 4 innings, utilizing just 52 pitches, but hit a speed bump in the 5th when Capuchino scored. After loading the bases with nobody out, he limited the damage to just one run when he responded with a strikeout, a sacrifice fly and a ground ball hit back to himself. He left the mound with 1R, earned, 4H, 1BB and 4K and improved his record to 2-1, 1-0 in league. Will Klieves was impressive in his 2 innings of relief, facing the minimum 6 batters that included 2 strikeouts.
