Carlmont Highlights: Carlmont scored first and most importantly, last. In the bottom of the 1st inning, catcher Daniel Friis (2 for 3, RBI, 2-2B) scorched the first pitch delivered to left field for a 2-out double to drive in David Bedrosian (1B). Palo Alto caught up and went ahead in the 5th and held the lead until the bottom of the 7th when a 1-out error started the ball rolling for the Scots. For the fourth time in the game, Sean Vanderaa smacked a pitch to the PA shortstop. He cleanly fielded the ball, but his errant throw allowed the hustling Vanderaa to reach safely. On the very next pitch, Bedrosian followed with his third hit of the game, a double to center that sent Vanderaa to 3B. Tyler DeSmidt then literally stepped up and crushed a double to right to bring in Vanderaa and Bedrosian for the walk-off win. Aiden Woodring picked up his first win, pitching the final 2.2 innings, shutting down PA’s final 8 batters. The only hitter to reach 1B was a hit-batter who he was able to promptly pick off for PA’s last out in the top of the 7th.
