With the Carlmont Scots (0-5 PAL Ocean, 3-7) leading 21-14 late in the first half, the Sequoia Ravens (2-3, 5-5) scored 24 unanswered points en route to a 38-28 win over Carlmont. Ravens running back senior Simon Talauati was the game’s outstanding offensive player; he rushed 26 times for 208 yards and three touchdowns. The game pivoted on the opportunistic Ravens moving the ball to Carlmont’s 7 yard line in the first minute of the second half to set up Talauati’s first touchdown. Then, late in the 3rd quarter, Sequoia drove 54 yards to the Carlmont 21 yard line to set up a 39 yard field goal by Sequoia kicker Cristian Cisneros. Each team scored once more, but Sequoia was able to hold the 10 point advantage until the game ended. Carlmont was not without some offensive fireworks. Scot wide receiver Wes Brown hauled in an 18 yard aerial strike from Carlmont quarterback Tim Netane for his sixth touchdown reception of the season. Scot running back Dane Fifita scored two rushing touchdowns which pushed his total to twelve TDs in 2019. Jonaven Kuhn put on a great show for the Carlmont faithful on Senior Night with 10 carries for 91 yards plus he caught 5 Tim Netane passes for 72 yards and one touchdown reception. On defense, Wes Brown led the Scots with six tackles. Offensive and defensive workhorse for Carlmont, Ola Fifita, stopped Sequoia’s Talauati with solid tackling more than once and he recorded a tackle for a loss when he sacked the Ravens quarterback in the 3rd quarter. With the win, Sequoia will take the Terremere Trophy home to Redwood City along with bragging rights for the next year.
