The Carlmont Scots defeated Sequoia earlier this season, giving them their only PAL loss.
However, in the rematch, Sequoia’s superior size made the difference.

It was Senior Night for Sequoia and early on, it looked as though Carlmont could make it a tough night. The Scots took a 20-19 lead into the half.

In the second half, Sequoia pounded the Scots inside, as Senior post player Soana Afu led all scorers with 21 points. Sequoia outscored Carlmont 31-20 in the second half.

Sequoia’s size and inside power game caused Carlmont to foul, leading to 23 free throw attempts. Although they only made 11, the sheer number of fouls to some of Carlmont’s key players hurt the Scots.

Caitlin Dulsky complemented Afu’s inside game with 11 points, including three three-pointers. Carlmont was once again led by PAL-South Player of the Year Ashley Trierweiler, who had her 10th double-double in 12 PAL league games. Trierweiler had 18 points and 10 rebounds, but did not get enough secondary scoring to keep Sequoia from getting the win.

With the victory, Sequoia locks up sole possession of first place in the PAL-South Division. Sequoia finishes the regular season at 20-4 and 11-1 in league play. Carlmont drops to 17-7 and 8-4 in the PAL.
