The Carlmont girls volleyball team defeated Half Moon Bay 25-15, 25-7, 25-13 Tuesday night in a PAL match in Belmont. The Scots improve to 17-10, 6-4 PAL-Bay, while the Cougars fall to 3-18, 0-10. The Scots JV team (11-10, 5-5) also won, 25-11, 25-12, while Carlmont’s Freshman team (12-9, 4-6) held on to win 25-16, 19-25, 16-14.
Junior Morgan McClellan had another great match for Carlmont, hitting .833 with 10 kills, two digs and two blocks in two sets. Senior Clara Vltavsky hit .444 with six kills, and junior Gaby Pierce hit 1.000 with four kills and a dig. Sophomore Leah McMillen hit .571 with four kills and two digs; senior Tiara Testa hit .333 with three kills and a dig; and sophomore Kayla Lunde hit .600 with three kills, one dig and two assists. Freshman Grace Xu added 15 digs and two aces, and classmate Larkin Chock added three digs and an ace. Senior Katie Wong and sophomore Jules Tan combined for two aces, eight digs and 29 assists while leading the team to a season-high .549 hitting efficiency.
Carlmont returns to action Thursday, hosting San Mateo in a PAL-Bay contest. The Freshman match starts at 4:00, with JV and varsity to follow (varsity will start somewhere around 6:30).
